The way the web works...

With all the Hoopla about Google deciding how the web should work and the way Matt has come out discouraging the paid links, the very existance of internet is being questioned.

Internet in it's sole, naive defintion means connection of network and in modern defition means connection of websites. We all respect and understand the importance google in making Internet the way it is today. Google brought together one of the most important idea of making information available to everyone and this lead people to create more and more information.

Google being a link based search engine encouraged people to link to each other and their revenue earning business model ensured that people start linking with each other for revenues and for mutual benefits.

Now suddenly out of the blues Google says that interlinking and selling links for money is a bad practice. This is like that classical example of US providing arm support to Afganistan to combat the dominance of Russia. Today we know what it has done to US and how big is the problem of Afganistan for US.

Making people do what Google wanted them to do so that it becomes the major search engine is now back firing on them and they now have to deal with the problem of web spam dealing with paid links.
